Style

Submission of a manuscript to the SINERGI: Journal of Strategic Studies & International Affairs implies that it has not been published and is not currently offered to any other publisher. It has not been submitted elsewhere until a decision is made received from this journal. Articles, which do not conform to the format described below, will not be considered for publication. All manuscripts under consideration for publication will be refereed via a blind reviewing process and open access. Throughout the review process, both the reviewer's and author's identities are concealed from the reviewers, and vice versa, throughout the review process.

 

Language

The language used in all papers submitted should be either English or Malay. As for the manuscript written in English, you may wish to have it edited for language before submitting your manuscript. This is not a mandatory step but may help ensure that journal editors and reviewers fully understand the academic content of your paper. In acceptance, we will ask authors to render articles according to the complete style guide.

 

Use of Non-English Text

A non-English term should be italicised if writing in English, but the sending (if added) in its anglicised plural form should not be italicised. Note that the names of institutions and movements, local or foreign, and names of currencies, local or foreign, should not be italicised. Quotations from books or direct speech in a non-English language should be set in quotation marks and not be italicised, followed by an English translation in square brackets. Quotations translated by the manuscript's author into English should be so indicated.

 

Tables and Illustration

All illustrations should be visualised (electronic copy) in permanent ink or photographed in sharps, reproduced in high-contrast digital images, and provided in camera-ready form. Tables, figures, diagrams, and maps should be kept to a minimum and contain only essential data. They should appear separately at the end of the text and should conform to page size. Tables should be numbered in sequence with Arabic numerals and contain brief explanatory captions, each on a separate sheet. Figures, diagrams, and maps should be designated "Figures" and included in a single numbered series different from the tables. The approximate positions of tables and figures should be indicated in the text by typing "Insert Table Here" or "Insert Figure Here" in a separate line. Sources of tables and figures should be cited. The author is responsible for getting permission from copyright holders to reproduce visual materials published in SINERGI.

 

Manuscript

A manuscript for a full research article should preferably be in the range of 6,000 to 8,000 words, excluding illustrations—meanwhile, the word count for preparing a research note or commentary manuscript is between 5,000 to 3,000 words. Please click the link for additional guidance in preparing the research note or commentary manuscript. The number of words allowed for a book review is between 3000 to 2500 words. For more information on scheduling a book review manuscript, don't hesitate to contact the Editor-in-Chief of SINERGI. The text should be in Times New Roman size 12 and be submitted as a Microsoft Word file. Please click the following link to use a template to prepare the manuscript before submission. The receipt of each paper presented will be automatically acknowledged. The Editor reserves the right to accept, modify or decline any article. All manuscripts for publishing are to be typed in single spacing. The pages should be numbered consecutively. The Editor reserves the right to edit /format the manuscript to maintain a consistent style. At the end of the manuscript (before the list of endnotes), please indicate a statement of declaration or an acknowledgement if the submitted manuscript is part of a project funded by any grant or funding institution. At the end of the manuscript writing (after the conclusion/closing part), please include a Declaration of Appreciation before the list of end notes, especially if the manuscript involved research grant funds from any institution or received assistance from various parties other than the author.

 

First Page (Separate From The Full-Text Manuscript)

In the A4 format, the full title (maximum 15 words) must be shown on the manuscript's first page with the author's name, affiliation, academic qualifications, institutional address, email address, and telephone number. The second page or document of the manuscript should consist of a blind full-text (without a trace of any of the author(s) affiliation and information, including a citation from the author(s) previous works).

 

Abstract

An abstract of 150 words (maximum) should be included. Please also indicate five keywords below the abstract, both in English and Malay. The Editor will help authors who cannot provide the Malay version of the abstract.
